Sep 10, 2015. Over a soulful Johnny Juliano beat, Drake preaches the virtues of honesty, as well as addressing those asking him to do more conscious raps. It does a good job of covering. A good example of how funny this verse is is the line “Keep this whole stripper thing secret in a pole vault.” There's a lot of that. If you're a fan of johnny juliano you've heard his instrumentals where he has his 808 doin like a slide that really gives his sound a unique sound. So if i get enough people who wanna learn how to do it ill make a youtube video explaining how to do it. Just let me know. Here are some other beats done in.

Legendary Rodger Clayton (Uncle Jamm's Army) Passes Away - By: - October 12, 2010 On October 10, 2010 west coast Hip-Hop lost another legend when Rodger Clayton, co-founder of LA's legendary Uncle Jamm's Army, passed away following a heart attack.
Along with Gid Martin, Clayton (aka Mr Prinze) took Uncle Jamm's Army (an extended collective of LA promoters, DJs, producers & emcees,) to wide fame when, back in the early 80's, they would stage huge DJ parties at places like the Los Angeles Sports Arena where they would pack in five to ten thousand people. During the 1980's Clayton and the Army reigned supreme on the West Coast and beyond playing hip-hop, but specializing in electro-hop, a direct descendent of New York's electro old school hip-hop (a la Afrika Bambaataa). Officially active during the years 1984 to 1988 the nexus of the group dated back to the late seventies when Clayton and Martin initially formed Unique Dream Entertainment.
That was 1978. Five years later the Clayton led group had morphed into the regionally popular Uncle Jamm's Army with the music mastermind wisely enlisting many talented up-and-coming hip-hop emcees and DJs to flesh out the ranks and ensure popularity with a growing audience for hip-hop. This extended lineup featured such notable members as the pre- gangsta rap Ice-T, his DJ partner Chris 'The Glove' Taylor, the Egyptian Lover, the Unknown DJ, and many later LA rap luminaries including DJ Pooh and DJ Battlecat.
Big fans of funkateer George Clinton, the name Clayton and company chose was a direct nod to Funkadelic's 1979 album Uncle Jam Wants You. And like the typically flamboyant Clinton led P-Funk ensembles, known for their wild onstage attire, Uncle Jamm's Army would also wear costumes onstage although usually not as brightly colorful, favoring green army fatigues. Tapping into Clayton's promotional skills, wisely bringing name rap acts out from New York like Kurtis Blow, Run DMC and Whodini, the Uncle Jamm's Army parties became a phenomenon attracting thousands of people to large auditorium and stadium scale venues like the L.A.
Sports Arena in their own area and the Richmond Auditorium up north in the Bay Area. Luckily I caught one of their gigs there, circa when the crew's Egyptain Lover's 'My Beat Goes Boom'/'What Is a DJ if he can't scratch' was a big hit. In the early days their LA parties were typically roller skate events, sponsored in part by stations KGFJ and KDAY, where the DJs would spin funk records like Zapp's 'Doo Wa Ditty.' By a certain stage Uncle Jamm's Army's name alone was enough of a draw.
Of course having their own records out which were radio hits only helped increase these crowds. Via their own Freak Beat record label Uncle Jamm's Army released a series of singles beginning with 1984's 'Dial-A-Freak,' which personified their Cali development of the electronic hip-hop sound that originated in New York. That record was basically a Clayton/Egyptian Lover production collaboration with Clayton doing much of the beats and the Egyptian Lover, while sharing some of the beats production, handling all the mic duties in a unique style that he would continue after going solo shortly thereafter: a sing-songy rap style that mined Prince's sexually fueled freaky banter and also lyrically referenced Egypt and the Pharaohs. LA community activist and longtime hip-hop community member General Jeff, who was a member of Uncle Jamm's Army credits the man with being, 'responsible for various radio station mix shows which featured rap music on KGFJ, KACE, KJLH and of course paved the way for now legendary KDAY.' He says that Clayton was also the first to go from record promoter to recording artist & producer and that he 'never got the true recognition he deserved.'
Rest in peace Rodger Clayton and thank you!........... Life Ain’t Easy by Seven - By: - October 6, 2010 A while ago, Dubcnn put together an open contest for our community that involved producer C Major, who is known for his work with Ca$his / Shady Records. We received a huge response from all of the many entries, even more than we anticipated – and the contest was an overall tremendous success. One of the song winners was an artist by the name of Seven who hails from the West Coast and right now his song called “Life Ain’t Easy” that won this exclusive Dubcnn contest is being played on Power 106 in LA – the top ranked Rhythmic formatted radio station in the United States. Not only is the song being played in Los Angeles – but also on other commercial and college radio stations scattered throughout the country and it is quickly gaining momentum on the airwaves. It’s a great feeling to know that if it wasn’t for Dubcnn, this song wouldn’t even exist or would it be playing on major radio today. Seven had the following statement for Dubcnn: 'I’ve been following Dubcnn for a few years now and I like how you all keep the fans updated with all the latest news on all [the] West Coast music and its artists.
On one of my many days logging on to the site, I saw Dubcnn had posted a contest for artist’s to submit a song for a chance to be produced by C Major from Shady Records. I submitted a song, and soon after I received an email, with an instrumental saying I had been chosen to participate in this contest. I knocked the song out and sent it back in for it to be judged by the staff at Dubcnn. A little while later, I received an email from Dubcnn saying I was the winner of the contest. Honestly, I couldn't believe it. I don't think I have ever won anything in my life.
I thought the song was cool, but I never imagined it would win. Now a year later, we have shot a video for the song and it is currently playing on over 15 commercial, college, and internet radio stations throughout the U.S. I would like to thank everyone at Dubcnn for the support they have given me and for giving Indie Artists like myself the opportunity to get heard and to connect with a bigger audience through their website and forums. Thanks Dubcnn for making the West Coast shine once again.' Lisa Thomas from LRT Music Group (and also Seven’s manager) had the following thing to say about “Life Ain’t Easy” and how Dubcnn impacted this single: “ Seven has a lot of great music. He gave me a CD of several songs that he had just completed and, as I was listening, I heard a song called “Life Ain’t Easy.” Instantly, I knew it was a great song and I loved how the lyrics portrayed the struggles we all have and go through. I asked him about this song and he told me how the birth of this hit was through Dubcnn.
So, I took it to Power 106 -- met with E-Man (program director) and Seven also went to Power 106 and he did a meet and greet with the radio stations and all the DJ’s loved it and they put it on the “New @ 2 Mixed Show” and keep playing the song as it has a large request from the audience. It is being played now with the heavy hitters, he is in good company. With Seven’s raw talent with true words and emotion, backed with C Major’s incredible beat, not too mention LRT behind him, Seven has a masterpiece and it’s all because of Dubcnn. Thank you all so very much!” Seven has his album dropping through LRT Music Group soon and right now he has a mixtape out called “Public Enemy” by Julian Ramirez of The Cali Untouchables that features Jayo Felony, Baby Bash, C Murder, Spider Loc, L.V. (from South Central Cartel) and L.A Nash. Here is the song again: Seven – (Produced By C-Major) Congrats to Seven, C Major, LRT Music Group for much continued success.
Stay tuned to Dubcnn for information on Seven and also be on the lookout for another exclusive interview with him coming soon. With major radio play like this, life seems to finally be getting easier for Seven!...........
