(pop and click fix) This Interface has been my best friend. The thing is I never even think about it, I just plug in and go. Which is how it should be, not a factor. This Interface has been my best friend.
The thing is I never even think about it, I just plug in and go. Which is how it should be, not a factor at all. Extremely Dependable, and everything I could ask for. The reason I am writing this review is to defend this device, I read in a lot of forums that it has pops and clicks. Which I dealt with too about 3 months after owning it AND it drove me CRAZY.
The solution is so simple some models ship with weak/faulty USB 2.0 cables. After replacing it with one I had laying around, I never looked back This baby is so reliable, no latency and solidly built. You will not regret this purchase. Be Careful Before Purchasing. I needed a USB audio interface for my PC so I could drive two pair of studio monitors. I have a set of KRK Rokit 5's and a set of KRK Rokit.
I needed a USB audio interface for my PC so I could drive two pair of studio monitors. I have a set of KRK Rokit 5's and a set of KRK Rokit 10-3's. I wanted to be able to use both of them simultaneously and play sound from my PC out of all 4 speakers at once. I've used these two pair simultaneously with my Traktor Kontrol S8 (used one pair on mains outs and another on booth outs) and it worked fine.
The 5's are brighter than the 10-3's so the pairs together give a much filler sound. I went with this device versus other devices similarly priced with better reviews on some sites - including the Focusrite Gen 2 products. The 6i6 Gen 2 is similar to this device in price and features, but wasn't available at the time of purchase.
Both this and the 6i6 have 4 audio outputs, so I figured I'd be set with either device. Had I done more research, I could have gotten a 2i2 for much less money and it would have worked the same. The KA6 won't let you output PC audio to the 1/2 and 3/4 speakers simultaneously. You can send device inputs via the Mic or Line channels on the KA6 itself to both simultaneously, but you can't send audio from the PC to all 4 channels at once. I'm not sure why this is, but it was a big let-down to me. Because the device contains serial numbers for downloadable software, Guitar Center does not allow returns on the device.
In order to accomplish what I wanted to do, I needed to go back and purchase a Mackie Mix8, which allows me to take 1/2 output from the KA6 (balanced) and split it out to two pair of balanced outputs. This works out nice, since I can independently control the gain on both the 10-3's and the Rokit 5's, but it was another $100 spend for the mixer and cables. Now I'm essentially getting the same functionality as a 2i2 paired with the Mix8, but it cost me $100 more. There should be no reason why they couldn't allow output on 1/2 and 3/4 at the same time. Read the manual before you buy. I learned the hard way.

You will not regret this purchase. Comments about Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6: After purchasing my NI Maschine, i went about looking @ various audio interfaces. First I got the M-Audio priced around $200 but it was lacking in inputs then I went with the Mackie USB mixer but it was too big to transport in my backpack. Finally I did some research & compiled a short list. I went on various music sites & read & reread reviews by other users & whittled down my list til I had 3 left of the 3 the NI KA6 stood out because of price & bang 4 buck so I decided to go with it even though the guy in the store said to go with the other unit.
Well I am here 7 months later & I made the right decision!! I just got back from being on the road on tour & I took it with me. First let me say that yes i was initially frustrated with my purchase but i stuck it out & tweaked my Win 7 i5 laptop for audio purposes & I couldn't be any happier! On the road it was a breeze to use on stage I was able to control my NI B4 VST beautifully (as well as other sounds)& didn't have a latency issue. On my days not playing it was fun to be able to do music wherever I was with enough inputs 2 add extra intruments. The build of the KA6 is super solid!
I didnt have to tape it down on stage it stayed right where it belonged. Read the reviews on this I wanted to add a different perspective so I'm not getting n2 the technical greatness of it. One caveat inputs 3/4 & 5/6 can't be direct monitored as far as I can see other than that great piece of gear! Comments about Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6: At first i was worried because i had heard tons of stories about this device having terrible drivers and having to constantly unplug/plug it back in to get it to work correctly.
I had bought it used so there was no cd with it, which wasn't a problem because NI has a very easy website to navigate. I downloaded the latest driver and installed it WITHOUT HAVING THE DEVICE PLUGGED IN! And i have yet to have any real problems with it. When my screen auto dims it jumps for a second (which isn't a big deal when I'm producing anyhow cause that feature is turned off).
And i ONCE had a problem with the headphone jack but as i reached to mess with it it fixed its self. I am on a Windows computer and have used this product with Reason, Reaktor, and Reaper and have had little to no problems with it. The build quality of this thing is excellent! The knobs have absolutely no looseness, even the huge main volume 1/2 knob! No loose feeling jacks.
Its a hefty piece of equipment and i believe it breaking wont ever be my reason for parting with it. I have yet to try the XLR or Phantom power on the thing.
Though i have 2 separate guitars through it and it came out very clear and pleasing. I have also enabled the phantom power to check for any noise that it may give off and it was still silence coming through my Yamaha's even at quite a high level. I'm giving this product 5 stars because i cant find any problems with the thing!
Id recommend this to anybody! Comments about Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6: I needed a USB audio interface for my PC so I could drive two pair of studio monitors. Read the manual before you buy. I learned the hard way. Comments about Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6: I loved the look and idea of this item before i even saw it in person but now that i own one i have to say its a beast.
Despite how compact it is and it really is compact (probably the size of an average bible) its heavy so you know it just packed full of heat sinks and electrical components with no space to spare. Its made of a perfect durable Metal (aluminum) frame and plastic face. Everything that happens in this interface is accountable by the led indicators on the face. It was super easy to set up and the preferences software is easy to navigate. In the end if i had a reason to buy more then one I would. Comments about Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6: I am an executive producer and needed a new interface since a new pc in Star Dream Studio, USA didn't have firewire connections.
I couldn't use the M-Audio Firewire 610 anymore because it lacks usb connectivity. I did a lot of research and decided upon the Komplete Audio 6 for USB connection.
Man this is a solid piece of equipment with pristine sound from this I-7 pc. I am so impressed with Native Instruments Komplete 6 that I am now looking at Machine Studio next. Oh and my 610 is still useful as a preamp only. Comments about Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6: The depth and clarity of this unit is amazing! It gives a full, living dimensionality to anything you put through it. I thought I was fine with my previous usb audio (an FCA610) but compared to the Native Instruments sound, it seemed thin and lifeless.
(sorry behringer, i still love you for other things) Now I can hear my mixes with astounding precision- I've had to go back and re-engineer several tracks, now that I can hear the entire spectrum. B l o w n away! I've haven't run into any limits yet with it, in fact, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it automatically handles WDM and ASIO drivers simultaneously- meaning that I can run Ableton Live, (which takes exclusive control over the audio driver it uses) and also run other audio programs at the same time with no issues. I haven't had it long, but I would definitely recommend this unit, and really, anything made by Native Instruments. Everything they do is quality.
It’s shocking that there are still companies that exist in today’s world that are off-the-rocker stupid. With social media giving companies the ability to broadcast a message far and wide, there are so many brands that are so forward thinking — the ones that get it, and understand it — and then there’s Native Instruments, with the most pathetic excuse for customer service and management I have ever seen. Let me take you on a journey of pain and mental anguish. Walk with me, my friends. Native Instruments makes both software and hardware for music production, DJing and more. I want to focus on the software aspect of things. I bought a copy of Native Instruments KOMPLETE 9 software for $500 at a Guitar Center to use with Logic Pro.
It came on 12 DVDs. Oh yeah, 12 DVDs. That’s strike one, because in today’s world with Internet speeds as fast as they are, and content delivery networks being so inexpensive, there’s just no reason to ship 12 physical DVDs in a booklet with plastic packaging and two boxes, especially without a digital only option. But, I bought a DVD drive for my iMac from the Apple store, and started installing all 12 DVDs to my computer and an external hard drive. It failed about a day and a half through the installation, at DVD number 10. It seems that one of the DVDs was bad, but I was able to find a complete copy of DVD number 10 that could be downloaded, so off I went.
But then, I realized that I had thrown the box away, and unbeknownst to me, there’s a tiny piece of paper that comes in the box that has your serial number so you can activate your software. It looked like a registration form, so I didn’t think much of throwing it away along with the outside box. It turns out, however, that’s the only serial number you get. It’s not printed inside or on the 12-DVD booklet like every other piece of software you buy, it’s on a piece of paper that’s loose in the box. No worries, let me call the company and see if they can help since I obviously bought the software and I didn’t know. Well, it turns out that even though Guitar Center was nice enough to send me a digital copy of my receipt to send to Native Instruments, Native Instruments still wouldn’t issue me another serial number. There’s no way of tracking the old serial number, they told me, and they refuse to allow me to activate the software I paid for.
The reason Native Instruments is a stupid company, is because we’re talking about software here. It costs them absolutely nothing to issue me a serial number so I can use the software I bought. This is not like a physical item. It’s a string of numbers for them to do the right thing, and help out a customer who didn’t know the serial number was on a tiny piece of paper in the box, and who showed them a receipt with my information on it.
But they’ve firmly told me no, and they refused to help me out. So here we are, with a dumb company that just received some bad press because it didn’t have the decency to do the right thing for a paying customer. The Boy Genius Report is a periodic column written by BGR founder Jonathan S.
